--- Born in Calcutta, Dr Margaret Murray traveled much before the age of 25. Mostly between Germany and India. Then she turned to archaeology and became a student of Egyptology in 1894. Working in field excavations in various countries she stayed active until her late 70s. By the time she reached 100 years of age she had written and published several books including The Splendor that was Egypt, The Genesis of Religion and My First Hundred Years.

--- Alexandra Baldine Kosloff. the prima Ballerina with the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, who toured both Europe and the United States, was actively teaching ballet at 91 in the 1980s, in her southern California studios. She taught ninety minute classes without taking any breaks and insisted on demonstrating even the difficult positions to her students.

--- Adolph Zukor who was the most influential man in film was still chairman of Paramount Pictures at 91.

--- Dr. Albert Schweitzer was working full time for 50 years at his mission in Lambaréné in Gabon, West Africa. He was still working at his mission in 1965 at the age of 90.

--- Pablo Casals, the great Spanish cellist, was still giving concerts at age 88. It was said that his total devotion to his music seemed to endow him with an extra source of energy. He completed exhausting world tours in his late 80s.
